Cedric Smith, Jacquelyn Piro Donovan & More Complete Casting for Wizard of Oz National Tour

Oz just got more citizens! Casting is now complete for the Canadian presentation of The Wizard of Oz on tour, with previously announced star Danielle Wade as Dorothy. Cedric Smith will play the Wizard, Jacquelyn Piro Donovan has been cast as the Wicked Witch of the West and Robin Evan Willis will be Glinda. The show, which features new songs by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, will also star Jamie McKnight as the Scarecrow, Mike Jackson as the Tin Man and Lee MacDougall as the Lion. The tour will launch at Vancouver's Queen Elizabeth Theatre from November 5 through 10.

An acclaimed British-Canadian actor, Smith is a Gemini Award winner (the Canadian equivalent of an Emmy) whose career in Canadian film and television spans nearly four decades. Stateside, he is known for voicing Professor X in the X-Men animated series. Donovan has appeared on Broadway in Les Miserables and Miss Saigon. Willis is a veteran of Canada’s Shaw Festival. McKnight has appeared in The Producers in Toronto and is also a member of the Canadian Tenors. Jackson has bowed on Broadway in Chicago and MacDougall has toured in Mamma Mia!

The ensemble will include Larry Mannell, Charlotte Moore, Jordan Bell, John Edwards, Kelly Grainger, Julianne Hobby, Jason Huska, Zak Kearns, Ayrin Mackie, Anthony MacPherson, Stewart Adam McKensy, Julia McLellan, Briana Palmer, Kristen Pottle, Alana Randall, Adam Sergison, Andrew Taylor, Devon Tullock, Jesse Weafer, Ryan Wilson and Alyson Workman.

This new production of The Wizard of Oz, which originated in London’s West End in 2011, features a revised book by Lloyd Webber and Jeremy Sams. The national tour will feature the same creative team from the West End and Toronto productions, which includes direction by Sams, set and costume design by Robert Jones, choreography by Arlene Phillips, lighting design by Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Mick Potter and video/projection design by Jon Driscoll.
