Overview

Officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II on Sunday, July 5, 1959 with an invitation-only concert by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Later that month, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II attended a concert at the theatre and officially gave it her name. The Queen Elizabeth Theatre is one of the largest ‘soft seat’ houses in Canada, accommodating 2,781 patrons.
